Help A Reporter Out is a great service if you are interested in doing more PR. Each day reporters submit their requests for sources to HARO all of the requests get aggregated and emailed out to HARO’s list of ‘sources’ each day. If there is a story that you think is relevant to your expertise you can then reach out to the reporter. If they like what you have to say then they will use you as part of their story it is a simple as that.

The only issue I have with this service is that there is no way to filter the news stories so when the email comes in (sometimes with hundreds of source requests all different topics and geography with a strong US focus) you have to search through for that which is relevant to you. It can be a bit of a pain but a  small price to pay for a free service.

To register all you have to do is go to http://www.helpareporter.com/ and give them an email address and password and you will be added on their distribution list.

Has anyone used this service before? Has it ever turned into a PR opportunity for you?
